I still remember the immense sense of accomplishment I felt when I first learned to create something using needle and thread. For as long as I can remember, I have loved expressing myself creatively. I recall finding embroidery and handicrafts far more comforting than drawing. My crafting has an aspect similar to meditation; when I become absorbed in it, I lose track of time.

From a young age, I sought out art in many forms and places. It was through handicrafts that embroidery found me, and I eventually made it entirely my own.

If we embrace the Shinto belief of "Yaoyorozu no Kami"—that divine spirits reside in everything—we can no longer treat clothing as disposable. As our answer to mass production, we look closely at each pre-owned garment and re-weave its story. Elevating clothing back into an object of reverence (Art): this is our sustainability.
